Is Japan a better country than America?
I agree with Joaquim. As I was born and raised in the US, but I am second generation Japanese on my mothers side I often feel frustrated with American culture. America is more about people who ask “what society can do for me” rather than Japanese culture of “what can I do for society”. I know this will hurt many feelings here, but it is my opinion. If I were younger I would have exercised my right of becoming a Japanese citizen and living there.
I adore a society of order, conformity, respect and overall graciousness. Low crime rates are great too! My family and I visit several times a year and always miss it. The US could be better, unfortunately everyone here is too tied up with social issues and won’t forget about such which makes it ugly. Too much me, me, me mentality here and everyone wanting to be and do whatever they want regardless of the consequences and whomever it hurts.
My 14 year old son who hates shopping will not hesitate in Japan and neither will I. Shopping, dining out and just about anything else is always a great experience. Of course he loves Akihabara. I prefer my mother’s hometown of Aizu, but any place in Japan is good.
